Five After Four is Tim's
exploration of the many voices of one of the oldest instruments in Irish
traditional music, from haunting slow airs to danceable waltzes and
rousing jigs, reels.
Joining Tim on this
self-produced, 11-track recording are California talents Richard Mandel
(Tipsy House) on guitar; Ann-McChesney-Young (Tinker’s Damn) on button
and piano accordions; Michael Mullen (Tempest) on fiddle, viola and
guitar; and Tom Wagner (Oak, Ash & Thorn) on guitar. Tim offers up
percussion on bodhrán.
Tim recorded,
mixed and mastered Five After Four at MuscleTone Studios in
Berkeley, Calif. with the help of owner-engineer Derek Bianchi, known in
California folk circles as a master at working with acoustic
instrumentation and vocals. Bianchi’s other clients include Michael
Mullen, Wake the Dead, Sylvia Herold, Shira Kammen, Kammen & Swan, Paul
Kotapish, Danny Carnahan, Radim Zenkl and Steve Baughman.
